With 38 years experience in the Marine Industry, John is an Accredited Member of the YDSA (Yacht Designers & Surveyors Association) and surveys GRP vessels. He carries out: pre-purchase, insurance renewal, structural and damage surveys together with Mast & Rigging Inspections, Valuations & Tonnage Measurements etc.

Specialist Services John works for individual clients, on behalf of insurance companies and boat builders. The reports produced are factual statements on the condition of a vessel at the time of inspection and are dependant upon the type of survey commissioned. A copy of the report is sent out within 72hrs of the survey being completed, in the form of a PDF document sent direct to the customer’s computer and a hard copy via 1st class post. Oil and fluid samples can be taken for analysis.

I have worked in the marine industry since 1972 when I started my City and Guilds Apprenticeship as a Boat Builder & Ships Joiner with Westerly Marine Construction Limited (1972 -1976)
I followed this by studying an ONC in Naval Architecture (1976 - 1978) then went on and did my HNC in Naval Architecture (1978 - 1980)

In the early 1980's I raced numerous boats in the Solent Series and RORC races in the channel and did the Fastnet Race in 1983. I now own a Moody 27 that I cruise around the solent and channel

I am an Accredited Member YDSA and work to their Code of Practice. I try to ensure that a copy of the report is sent out within 72hrs of the yacht survey being completed and more often than not it is sent out within 48hrs. This is in the form of a PDF document sent direct to your computer and a hard copy via 1st class post.

I regularly go to various marinas and yacht clubs in the following areas, Hampshire, Portsmouth, Gosport, Southsea, Emsworth, Southampton, Hamble, Swanwick, Lymington, Bucklers Hard, West Sussex, Chichester, Brighton, Newhaven, Dorset, Poole, Wareham, Swanage, Devon, Plymouth and overseas when requested.
